Lucas K. Love was born and raised on the Island of Oahu. He has a law degree from the University of California Berkeley School of Law, where he was an Articles Editor for the Berkeley Journal of International Law. In addition to his law degree, he has a master’s degree in accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant (not in public practice). After graduating from law school, Mr. Love practiced international tax law in Silicon Valley for two years at Baker & McKenzie, where he advised some of Silicon Valley’s largest companies on a variety of international tax planning and federal tax controversy matters. In 2015, he decided to move back home to accept a position in the tax department of Carlsmith Ball LLP, Hawaii’s oldest law firm. During his six years at Carlsmith, the last two of which as a Partner of the firm, Mr. Love assisted clients with tax and estate planning, trust administration, tax controversies, nonprofits, and general corporate advice for small businesses. In May 2021, Mr. Love started his own practice to provide dedicated attention to his own clients.
Mr. Love’s experience allows him to confidently anticipate controversies to help his clients prepare for – and frequently avoid – potentially costly predicaments. He provides personalized attention to a wide range of clients, including small business owners, real estate investors, professional service providers, trustees, trust beneficiaries, entrepreneurs, retailers, and nonprofit organizations.
